Solstice

Solstice is a breathtaking theatrical experience that fuses contemporary circus, dance, and physical theatre into a spellbinding display of movement and artistry. Featuring world-class performers from across the United States, the production transports audiences into a world where gravity-defying acrobatics, evocative lighting, original music, and immersive scenery come together in dazzling harmony.

With each scene unfolding like a dream, Solstice captivates the senses and awakens the spirit. Snowfall drifts from above, light dances across the stage, and every moment is infused with emotion and imagination. This is more than a circus—it’s a celebration of creativity, connection, and the transformative power of performance. Perfect for all ages, Solstice leaves audiences wide-eyed and uplifted, reminded of the magic that winter—and live theatre—can bring.

“Solstice was a magical escape from the mundane, and a beautiful reminder to dare bigger and never to allow the light of imagination to be extinguished.”

DESCRIPTION:

Step into a dreamscape with Solstice: a Winter Circus Experience. At the heart of the story is a girl who loses her light and stumbles into a world where time bends, memories breathe, and the familiar becomes impossibly strange. Shadows dance, snow drifts fall, and acrobats blur the line between the everyday and the extraordinary.

More than a circus, Solstice is a living poem — a place where nostalgia meets surreal wonder, and where audiences are invited to rediscover the childlike awe of seeing snow for the first time.

In 2026, Solstice returns with all-new elements and an original score composed by NC artist Bella Nona, weaving music, movement, and imagination into a one-of-a-kind celebration of the human spirit.

NARRATIVE:

“Solstice” opens amidst a cold, average street corner. Snow trickles from the sky as “Ché”, our Main Personage, finds herself alone and flips through a notebook filled with grand ideas. When she abandons it, the streetlight above her flickers out—plunging her into a surreal world teeming with life and snow. “The Kids” dart playfully through the streets, a woman in red is wrapped in the past, and an aloof businessman reveals himself to be the biggest clown of all. Pursuing her lost light through storms, memories, and moments of community, Ché doesn’t just find her light, but creates it.

*The Story of “Solstice” is very intentionally left up for interpretation, images provoke the emotions and our audience often finds new stories within the story we have created with this show.*
